WAYNESBORO, Pa. — Mr. Ernest B. “Ernie” Angle, 64, of West Seventh Street, Waynesboro, was pronounced dead at the scene of an automobile accident on Pa. 16 near Blue Ridge Summit on Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011, around 1 p.m.

He was born June 20, 1946, in Hagerstown, Md. He was the son of the late H. Elmo and Eileen Schnebly (Anthony) Angle.  

He was a lifelong resident of the Waynesboro area.

Mr. Angle graduated from Waynesboro Senior High School with the class of 1965.

He and his wife of more than 43 years, Mrs. Ruth P. (Morris) Angle, were married June 24, 1967, in St. Andrew Catholic Church, Waynesboro. They moved to the present residence in 1993.

Ernie was employed as a welder for Grove Worldwide in Shady Grove, Pa., for 43 years, retiring in June 2008.

He was a member of Joe Stickell American Legion Post 15, Eagles Club Inc., Wm. Max McLaughlin VFW Post 695 and Owls Club, all of Waynesboro.

Ernie enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, riding his bike and walking.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Sherri E. Sullivan and husband, Kevin, of Waynesboro; three grandchildren, twins Joseph B. Sullivan and Guy W. Sullivan, and Malonia R. Sullivan; one brother, Stephen M. Angle, of Waynesboro; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Anthony E. “Tony” Angle.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 18, 2011, at Waynesboro Church of the Brethren, 117 S. Church St., Waynesboro, with the Rev. Amy Messler officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Gettysburg, Pa.

Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro.
