Thrift shop plans sale

Meritus Medical Center Auxiliary will hold its winter clothing sale Tuesday through Saturday, Feb. 26.

All winter clothing and books will be sold at a 50 percent reduction.  

The shop is at 18706 Crestwood Drive, behind Dunkin’ Donuts on Pennsylvania Avenue in Hagerstown. The hours are Tuesday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

All sales are final, and all profits will go to enhance patient care at the new Meritus Medical Center.



TOPS 0077


Losses for the week totaled 38 pounds for TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Chapter 0077.  The best TOPS losers were Janet Truax, Patsy Price, Trudy Heather and Vergie Smith. The best KOPS losers were Jean Betker and Bonnie Henry. Judy Purdham won the Ha-Ha prize and Price won the Get-R-Done prize. The no-no snack for this week is cake.

Dorothy Martin presented the program on “12 Ways to Think Yourself Thinner.”

TOPS 0446

The weather finally cooperated, allowing TOPS Chapter 0446 to meet Feb. 9. The net loss was 20.9 pounds, with C.K. leading the way with a loss of 7.5 pounds.

Runners-up were Rick, who lost 7 pounds, and Jeanne R., who lost 6.8 pounds. Joanne P. won the Ha-Ha box.

The chapter welcomed back Teresa F. and Darlene B.

Since the chapter was unable to have an awards day in January, Cynthia presented awards for December and January.

December’s thinner winner was Judy H. and January’s was C.K.

Joyce C. and Jackie were this month’s respective runners-up.

Betty Jo won vacation and birthday awards for December, as well as a program award. Honored as a new KOPS was J.S.  Joyce C. and Barinda received pins for losing 50 pounds. Judy H. was honored for a full year of perfect attendance.

Also receiving perfect-attendance recognition were Marie, with 28 consecutive weeks, and Joyce C. with 19 weeks.

Meetings are on Wednesdays from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Shiloh United Methodist Church, 19731 Shiloh Church Road, Hagerstown. Weigh-in is from 8:45 to 9:20 a.m.

Auxiliary plans sandwich sale

Morris Frock American Legion Post 42 Auxiliary will hold a ham sandwich sale.

The deadline to order is Feb. 25 for delivery on March 1.

Country ham sandwiches cost $4 apiece and city ham sandwiches cost $3.

Hub Band Boosters plan money bonanza

The North Hagerstown High School Hub Band Boosters Club will hold a money bonanza Saturday, April 30, at the Elks Lodge on Robinwood Drive.

Doors open at 4:30 p.m. and a buffet dinner will be served at 6 p.m. Drawings will begin at 8 p.m. with dancing to follow.

Every 10th ticket wins $40 and the jackpot will be $1,000.
