Maryland Public Television will feature the Hagerstown Aviation Museum this month on its show, "Chesapeake Collectibles."

MPT's newest show, "Chesapeake Collectibles" will highlight the museum in an episode scheduled to air Feb. 12, and again on Feb. 17, a news release said.

Museum President John Seburn said the facility will get about 4 1/2 minutes of air-time in the episode.

"I understand that is quite a lot," he said.

Show producer Ken Day and John Davis, host of MPT's "Motorweek," traveled to Hagerstown with a production crew in late September to film  the episode, Seburn said.  The crew came during the museum's annual fly-in event.

Seburn said he expects the segment will be an overview of the museum, its history and planes.

"Knowing that the museum has a unique collection of aircraft built in Hagerstown, Maryland, Ken Day called us," Seburn said in the release.

"Chesapeake Collectibles" explores the Chesapeake Bay area's distinctive history through the region's treasures, people and their stories, the release said.

"Since 'Chesapeake Collectibles' began airing in January, the show has been well received and has generated much interest and many suggestions for other unique Maryland collections to be featured," Day said in the release. "We are very pleased to present the Hagerstown Aviation Museum story in the upcoming episode and hope the public will learn more about the museum."

The Hagerstown Aviation Museum was created in 2005 to preserve and promote the region's aviation history, Seburn said.

Since then, it has acquired many planes — most of which were built in Hagerstown by Fairchild Aircraft – through donations, he said.

This will be the second time the museum was featured on MPT.

In 2005, the station ran a documentary titled, "Hagerstown — Remembering Our Aviation Heritage," Seburn said.

MPT will air the episode on Saturday, Feb. 12 at 6:30 p.m. and on Feb. 17 at 8 p.m.
