CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — Bruce S. Malmont, 84, of Chambersburg, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2011, in York Hospital, as a result of injuries sustained in a Guilford Township motor vehicle accident earlier that day.

Bruce was born in Manhattan, New York, on April 9, 1926.  

A veteran of the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force, Bruce served his country during World War II and the Korean conflict.
He earned a bachelor of science degree from the University of New Mexico and a master of science degree from the University of Washington.  

He retired from Letterkenny Army Depot as the director of Depot Supply and Command. Prior to his time at Letterkenny, Bruce worked at Wright–Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio, in Taipei, Taiwan, and at the Pentagon. His other interests included working with cars, stained glass, playing golf and woodworking.

Bruce is survived by his wife of 51 years, C. Valerie Skuse Malmont, whom he married Dec. 19, 1959; three children, Paul Malmont and wife, Audrey Herbst, of Sparta, N.J., Andrea Malmont and husband, Jon Baughman, of Chambersburg, and Jason Malmont and wife, Lara Brenckle, of Carlisle, Pa.; and six grandchildren, Nathaniel and Wesley Malmont, Stephanie and Paige Summers, and Isaac and Joshua Baughman.  

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Roxanne Michelle Malmont.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011, in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, with visitation from 1 to 2 p.m. The Rev. Valerie Wills will officiate. Bruce’s family will also welcome friends to their home immediately following the service.

Interment will follow in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
