Police call report of Williamsport break-in an honest mistake

February 08, 2011

WILLIAMSPORT — Area law enforcement agencies converged on a house in Williamsport after police received a call before 9 a.m. from a passer-by, who observed what he believed to be a person breaking in to that house through a window.

But the report was an honest mistake, according to a Washington County Emergency Services dispatcher.

The dispatcher said he had no details, but that an officer at the scene described the situation as an honest mistake.

Both Maryland State Police and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office went to Williamsport in connection with the report.

Police have since left the scene.
