Hilda Jane Hose, 86, of 26 S. Locust St., Hagerstown, Md., went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, Feb. 6, 2011, surrounded by her loving family at her bedside.

Her two special caregivers for 16 years were her son, Paul, and her daughter, Diane, with whom she resided.

Born Dec. 14, 1924, in Black Road, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Carrie Belle (Troxell) Bowers. She was the last surviving member of her siblings.

She was a homemaker, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother to many. She was an avid baker, specializing in apple dumplings and black bean potpie. She also loved puzzles and dominoes.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.

Surviving are her five daughters, Catherine Tracy, Airy Shiflett, Vickie Kirk, Diane Schiano DiCola and Linda Smith, all of Hagerstown; five sons, Junior Hose and his late wife, Kay, of Funkstown, Doug Hose Sr. and his wife, Joyce, of Williamsport, Jerry Hose Sr. and his fiancee, Sue, Terry Hose Sr. and his wife, Carol, and Paul Hose, all of Hagerstown; 24 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sylvester Franklin Hose Sr., on Feb. 1, 1999; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. The Rev. Clark D. Carr will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
