Esther May Long, 84, of Hagerstown, Md., died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2011, at her home.

Born Nov. 11, 1926, in Williamson, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Grace Marie Walck Clevenger.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter R. Long, in 2002.

She was a member of the United Brethren Church.

She was a member of Funkstown American Legion Post 211 Women’s Auxiliary and the Owls Club of Hagerstown.

She is survived by two daughters, Betty Jane Thomas and Catherine M. McSherry, both of Hagerstown; one son, Donald W. Griffith Jr. of Boonsboro, Md.; one sister, Alma McKenzie of Hagerstown; two brothers, Ernest Clevenger of Hagerstown and Earl Clevenger of Downsville, Md.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded by one son, Richard Griffith; one sister, Ruth Clevenger; and one brother, Glenn Clevenger.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. The Rev. Loyal H. Vanderveer will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 1 to 2 p.m.
