Singing valentines set for Monday, Feb. 14

On Monday, Feb. 14, a Mason-Dixon Barbershop Quartet will arrive at your place of choice and serenade your loved one with two love songs, a valentine card and a small gift. The singing valentines cost $40. It is best to call early, as times are limited.

Proceeds benefit the group’s local charities.

  • Tuesday — Home School Association Restaurant Night at the McDonald’s restaurant on Sharpsburg Pike.
  • Thursday  — Student Council is sponsoring a TAG Day to benefit the Leukemia Society.

TOPS 0077

Losses for the week totaled 37 pounds for TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Chapter 0077.  The best TOPS losers were Kathy Freese and Carol Poyner. The best KOPS losers were Mary Jo Kemper and Dottie Zimmerman. The Get-R-Done prize went to Jim Doyle for TOPS and Kemper for KOPS.

The no-no snack of the week is regular soda.  Next week is a no-gain week.

State Recognition Days will be March 24 and 25 in Annapolis.

The group meets Mondays at First Christian Church, 1345 Potomac Ave. in Hagerstown. Weigh-in is from 7 to 9:15 am. and the meeting is from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Maugansville Little League

Maugansville Little League will offer a Big League Division for the spring baseball season. Big League is open to those ages 17 and 18 who play in the Federal, West End and Maugansville Little Leagues.  

Registration will be Thursday and Friday from 6 to 8 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Maugansville Ruritan.

TOPS 0446

For the fourth consecutive week, weather conditions caused the TOPS 0446 chapter to cancel its Wednesday meeting.

On the agenda for this week, Cynthia is to conduct the monthly awards presentation.

Spaghetti dinner set

John Wesley United Methodist Church will hold a spaghetti dinner fundraiser Saturday, Feb. 19, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the social hall of the church.

Entertainment will be provided by Jonathan Giblin.

The menu includes spaghetti, meat sauce, plain sauce, meatballs, tossed salad, Italian bread, butter, tea and coffee.

Tickets cost $7 for adults, $3.50 for those ages 6 to 12 and free for those 5 and younger.

The church is at 129 N. Potomac St.
