Driver suffers minor injuries when pickup hits utility pole

CLEAR SPRING — Police said speed was a factor when a Harpers Ferry, W.Va., man lost control of a pickup truck at Blairs Valley Road and Hanging Rock Road Sunday afternoon.

The man lost control in a turn at the intersection and struck a utility pole, a Washington County Sheriff’s Office spokesman said Sunday night.

The man, whose name was not available, suffered some small cuts from broken glass, the spokesman said.

The crash was reported at 3:53 p.m.

Driver flees after minivan hits mailbox, parked vehicle

FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. — After a minivan ran off the road and hit a mailbox and a parked vehicle, the driver fled on foot, according to a Pennsylvania State Police news release.

The accident in the 1100 block of Anthony Highway was reported at 2:37 p.m. Saturday, police said.

A 2000 Dodge Caravan was heading north on Anthony Highway, also known as Pa. 997, when it failed to stay on the road as it curved to the left, police said. The minivan hit a mailbox before crossing back across the road and hitting a parked vehicle, police said.
