Waynesboro man installed as area Shriners leader

Charles “Mark” Recard was recently installed as Potentate of Ali Ghan Shriners in Cumberland, Md., for 2011.

Ali Ghan Shrine Center is one of 193 Shrine Centers worldwide and is a member of Shriners International. Ali Ghan Shriners actively support Shriners Hospitals for Children, with 22 hospitals in the U.S. and Mexico, which provide orthopedic, burn injury and cleft palate care for children at no cost to the children’s parents.

Recard is the 85th Potentate of Ali Ghan. Recard is a native of Waynesboro, Pa.

In 1978, he joined Acadia Lodge 586 in Waynesboro. He served as master of the lodge in 1986. He is a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Harrisburg, Pa., a past presiding officer in that organization and this year has been nominated to be named a 33rd degree mason in Chicago.

Recard and his wife, the former Nancy Shetron of Zullinger, Pa., own and operate an engineering consulting business in Needmore, Pa. They have a daughter, Leslie, and granddaughter, Ember, who live in Dundalk, Md.

Record’s theme for the 2011 Shrine year is “Kids are No. 1.”
