MERCERSBURG, Pa. — Judith M. Stevens, 66, of Mercersburg, Pa., passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2011, with her family at her side.

Born Aug. 5, 1944, in Chambersburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Robert and Pearl (Robinson) Elser.

A 1962 graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School, Judith went on to work at Letterkenny Army Depot as a parts expediter, where she retired in 1995. She enjoyed antiquing, quilting, landscaping and her grandchildren. Of her hobbies and interests, she had a special knack for her abilities in landscape supervision and direction.

Surviving is her beloved husband of 48 years, Ronald Stevens Sr., whom she married July 28, 1963; her loving children, Ronald Stevens Jr. (wife Tonna) of Martinez, Calif., Ryan Stevens (wife Pam) of Chambersburg, and Julie Heintzelman (husband Darin) of Mercersburg; five cherished grandchildren; two siblings, Jeanette Tufts (husband Richard) of Gettysburg, Pa., and Ronald Elser (wife Pam) of Phoenix, Ariz.; and her mother-in-law, Jane (Stevens) Small of Fayetteville, Pa.

A memorial service will be Feb. 20, 2011 at 7 p.m. at King Street United Brethren Church, 162 E. King St., Chambersburg. The family will receive friends in the church Fellowship Hall following the service. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, it is requested that contributions be made in her name to American Cancer Society, 384 Floral Ave., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
