Beginning at 7 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 3, work crews from the City's Wastewater Division will be repairing sanitary sewer mains and service laterals in the 400 block of West Antietam Street (between Burhans Blvd. and West Washington Street). This work will involve excavation and trenching in the street to access the sanitary sewer mains.
Consequently, the 400 block of West Antietam Street will be closed to all traffic. Motorists using West Antietam Street will be forced to detour around the work area via other city streets. The work crews will attempt to allow local traffic to access properties in this block during the closure.
Motorists approaching the work zone should expect to encounter cones, barricades, and other traffic control devices. Work will be completed on Thursday afternoon by 4 p.m., and the street will be reopened to traffic. This same daytime street closure will be repeated on Friday, Feb. 4, and possibly again on Monday, Feb. 7, depending upon the progress that is made on the repairs.
Emergency vehicles will not be able to pass through this block of West Antietam Street while the work is being performed.
Please contact the City's Wastewater Division at 301-739-8577, ext. 684 if there are any questions regarding this advisory.
