Jack Randolph “Randy” Rutherford, 67, of Hagerstown, Md., died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011, at his home in Hagerstown.

Born Nov. 6, 1943, in Hagerstown, he was the son of Dorothy Mae (McCoy) Rutherford of Hagerstown and the late John Harlan Rutherford, who died in December of 1966.

Randy graduated in 1961 from South Hagerstown High School. In 1962, he entered the U.S. Air Force, serving during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1966.

He worked in the electronics field for more than 20 years and was a past employee of Summer’s Television Repair Co., Hagerstown, where he eventually became the owner and operator of the business.

Randy was a past member of the Eagles Club of Hagerstown.

In addition to his mother, Randy is survived by three sisters, D. Anne Dixon of Harrisburg, Pa., Susan H. Shirley of Hagerstown and Joan L. Stremmel of Gettysburg, Pa.; one brother, J. Timothy Rutherford, of Owings Mills, Md.; seven nieces; one nephew; and a special friend, Kay K. Socks, of Hagerstown.

The memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011, at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Fairplay, Md. The Rev. John Torrence will officiate. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 17626 Bakersville Road, Fairplay, MD 21733.
