MECHANICSBURG, Pa. — John E. Keener, of Mechanicsburg, Pa., passed away Jan. 28 at Holy Spirit Hospital.

Mr. Keener was born Sept. 9, 1930, in Shippensburg, Pa. He was the son of Paul and Anna Keener.

He was a retired masonry contractor in Mechanicsburg.

He served as a sergeant in the Korean War.

He was a member of West Shore Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis Club, West Shore Investment Club, Mechanicsburg Club, Elks, American Legion, West Shore Country Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Antique Automobile Club of America and the Williams Grove Steam Engine Association.

He enjoyed hunting, deep-sea fishing, snowmobiling, and antique tractors and cars.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia; one daughter, Shari Westhafer and husband, Rod Westhafer, of Mechanicsburg; four brothers, Clarence Keener of Shippensburg, Paul Keener of Carlisle, Pa., Ivan Keener of Mechanicsburg and Mark Keener of Chambersburg, Pa.; two sisters, Marian Martin of Greencastle, Pa., and Esther Witmer of Morgantown, W.Va.; three grandchildren, Erica McGuigan, Rodney Westhafer and Angela Westhafer of Mechanicsburg; and four great-grandchildren, Caley McGuigan, Emma McGuigan, Nevaeh Bulo and Trinity Bulo.

Viewing will be held at Mussleman's Funeral Home, 324 Hummel Ave., Lemoyne, Pa., from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 31, and from 10 to 11 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 1, followed by the service. Burial will be in Rolling Green Cemetery with military honors.
