Heat cheer team wins state title

The Hagerstown Heat All Stars Competitive Cheer and Dance Team took four teams to the Maryland State Cheerleading Championships in Baltimore on Jan. 22.

 The team's Large Senior Level 3 Team "Fury" was crowned Maryland State Champions in its division.

The competition was hosted by Coastal Corp.

"Fury" competed against the Maryland Twisters "Storm" from Glen Burnie, Md., and Eastern Elite from Fallston, Md., in its division.

The team members received a team trophy, banner and jackets.

The other Heat teams competing that day were "Sizzle," Small Youth Level 1; "Eclipse," Small Junior Level 2; and "Fire," Small Senior Level 4.

The next competition is in Atlantic City, N.J., on Feb. 5 to compete in Spirit Unlimited's "Battle at the Boardwalk" Nationals.
