Sharpsburg Elementary fourth-grader wins $200 for her drawing of the U.S. flag

In April, third-grader Ellie Bare entered and won first place in the Pride and Patriotism Art Contest sponsored by Eagles Club 1136 of Brunswick, Md.

The prize was $50 and the chance to go on to the national contest.

In September, she placed first in the nation for her drawing of an American flag inside the United States with people holding hands surrounding the country.

The contest was held for students in grades three to six. Ellie won $200 on the national level.

She is also interested in photography.

Denesa Churchey, president of the Ladies Auxiliary of Eagles Club 1136 of Brunswick, presented her with the $200 prize.

Ellie is a fourth-grader in Mrs. Bonebrake's class at Sharpsburg Elementary School. She is the daughter of Scott and Julie Bare of Sharpsburg.
