CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — Franklin County Sheriff Dane M. Anthony said recently that he will seek a second term.

Anthony, a Republican, is in the fourth year of his current term. He said he focused his attention on updating and organizing the sheriff’s office while serving the citizens of Franklin County.

“I’m proud of the progress we’ve made over the past three years, and enjoy coming into work every day to serve the citizens of Franklin County and I look forward and am grateful for the opportunity to continue my service for another four years,” Anthony said in a news release announcing his campaign.

Anthony said some his major accomplishments include saving the county substantial funds by using the sheriff’s office for extraditions instead of outside agencies.

Additionally, Anthony created a warrants division focused on prioritizing both warrants and Protection From Abuse complaints so that service is made on the same day they are received in almost every case.

Since 2008, the sheriff’s office has served more than 1,900 warrants around the county.

Anthony said he has updated uniforms, vehicles, radios and computers and has worked together with other offices in the county courthouse to increase the space available to the sheriff’s department. He said this allows his staff to provide more efficient service to the judges, court officers and citizens.

Anthony is a member of the Pennsylvania Sheriff’s Association, National Sheriff’s Association and a graduate of the 2010 National Sheriff’s Institute. He is a member of the Letterkenny Rod & Gun Club, vice president of the Edenville Ruritan Club, a member of the Elks and VFW, and chairperson of Fix JB Sports.

He is an avid hunter and sports enthusiast. He is a lifelong resident of Franklin County. He is married to Teresa and has two children, Autumn and Jade.
