HAGERSTOWN — If Friday’s South Hagerstown-Boonsboro boys basketball game was a video game, the Warriors would have needed to hit the reset button.

The Rebels had 12 different players get on the scoresheet en route to a 76-37 thrashing of Boonsboro.

Darico Provitt, Sean Prather, Micahel Wiley and Devon King each scored in double figures for South (10-1, 7-1). Provitt led the charge with 14 points, Prather had 13, Wiley scored 11 off the bench and King added 10.

“I try to get as many guys in there as possible,” Rebels coach Kevin Naylor said. “I thought we did some good things on offense, but it’s a long season and we still need to work some things out.”

The Rebels wasted little time scoring, going on a 9-0 run to start the game and finishing with 28 points in the first quarter. South didn’t commit a foul in the quarter and held Boonsboro (3-9, 0-7) to just seven points.

“We still need more work on defense,” Naylor said. “We have to get better because we have a tough stretch coming up.”

The Rebels’ 7-0 run to start the the second quarter stretched their lead to 28. Boonsboro only managed eight second-quarter points and faced a 47-15 deficit at halftime.

“I wasn’t happy with our effort tonight,” Warriors coach Skip Chambers said. “I know we’re a better team than that.”

The Warriors found some life in the fourth quarter, but by then the writing was on the wall.

“I give (South) all the credit in the world. They’re a heck of a team,” Chambers said.

Justin Lewis led Boonsboro 12 points, while Alex Hartman and Curtis Lowery each added six.
