Brian P. Cassell, 25, of Hagerstown, Md., died unexpectedly on Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2011, at his home.

Born April 11, 1985 in Westminster, Md., he was the son of Marvin D. Cassell Sr. of Westminster and Karen Smith Martin of Little Orleans, Md.

He was the companion of Terry Hopkinson of Hagerstown.

He was a 2003 graduate of North Carroll High School in Hampstead, Md. He had worked at New York J & P restaurant in Hampstead, and had recently worked as a telemarketer for Merkle in Hagerstown.

He was a member of Hampstead Baptist Church. He enjoyed swimming and running.

Surviving in addition to his parents and companion are brother, Darryl Cassell of Westminster; sister, Emmie Marie Dougherty of Westminster; maternal grandparents, Theodore and June Smith; and stepfather, Jay Martin, all of Little Orleans.

He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Robert and Virginia Cassell.

The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 23, at Eline Funeral Home, 934 S. Main St., Hampstead, where a funeral service will begin at 8 p.m. on Sunday, with his pastor, the Rev. Chris Brammer, officiating. Interment will be private.
