Kauffman to Serve on Four House Standing Committees

January 20, 2011

HARRISBURG, Pa. — Rep. Rob Kauffman (R-Cumberland/Franklin) Wednesday announced that he has been appointed by Speaker of the House Rep. Sam Smith (R-Jefferson/Armstrong/Indiana) to serve on the Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Consumer Affairs, Labor and Industry, and State Government committees for the 2011-12 legislative session.

"Each of these committees addresses issues that are important to the residents of the 89th District, as well as the communities across the Commonwealth," Kauffman said. "I am ready to get to work on the critical matters that will restore the public's trust in their government while putting Pennsylvania on the path to recovery."

Kauffman previously announced that he was appointed by House Republican Policy Committee Chairman Rep. Dave Reed (R-Indiana) to serve on the Welfare Reform Policy Development Team during the 2011-12 legislative session.

"Pennsylvania is facing a multi-billion dollar budget deficit for the 2011-12 fiscal year, and it is imperative that the Legislature looks at every dollar that is spent," Kauffman said.

"The General Assembly must address the waste of taxpayer dollars and bring state government spending in line with revenues. The work that my colleagues and I do on these committees and the welfare reform team in the coming months will have a positive impact on this goal."
