Luncheon planned

Greater Campher Temple will hold a luncheon Saturday at Bethel Gardens Community Center, 356 Henry Drive in Hagerstown.

The luncheon will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The menu includes fried chicken, green beans, potato salad, cake and drinks. The lunch costs $8. It will be eat in or carry out. To have the food delivered, call 240-217-9581.

The event is sponsored by the Pastor's Aide Committee.

Community outreach

On Thursday, Jan. 27, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Commission on Aging will host an outreach event at the Bethel Gardens Community Center.  

Representatives from various programs and services will be available to provide assistance with applying for benefits (and helping folks determine for which benefits they might be eligible), income tax assistance, Medicare questions and answers, volunteer opportunities, etc.

Light refreshments and free giveaways will be available.

The event is sponsored by RSVP, a senior volunteer program at the Commission on Aging, as a Martin Luther King outreach activity as directed by the program's federal sponsor, the Corp. for National and Community Service.

Movie night

Did you miss "Despicable Me" at the movies?  Well, here's your chance to see it  Saturday.

The movie will be shown at Bridge of Life Church, 14 S. Potomac St. with free popcorn and free drinks. It will be shown on a large projection screen with high-quality sound in the 100-year-old historic theater.

The movie will be shown at 7 p.m.
