Applications for AAUW scholarships available at guidance offices

January 20, 2011

Applications for AAUW scholarships are available at the guidance offices of Washington County public and private high schools and Hagerstown Community College.

The Hagerstown Branch of the American Association of Women makes available scholarships to a number of Washington County residents each year.

Applicants must be female residents of the county with plans to obtain a bachelor's degree at an accredited college or university. They may be high school seniors, students who are already in college or women who have been out of school for some time and want to go back.

Selection is based on grades, extracurricular activities and need.

The scholarship money is raised through the annual AAUW Used Book Sale.

Anyone who would like an application form, but has no access to one at school, may call 301-797-0525.

If there is no answer, the caller may leave her name, mailing address and phone number, and one will be mailed to her.

Deadline for completed applications is March 3. Any received after that date will not be considered.
