January 19, 2011

Five businesses appeared before Washington County liquor officials Wednesday after it was alleged they served alcohol last month to an underage police agent.

None of the representatives from the businesses disputed the charges.

The incidents occurred Dec. 7 to 29, the Washington County Sheriff's Office said.

The businesses are as follows:

  • Crossroad Liquors at 16509 National Pike in Hagerstown.
  • Garfield's Restaurant at 17301 Valley Mall Road in Hagerstown.
  • Halfway Liquors at 17438 Virginia Ave. in Hagerstown.
  • Fratelli's Pizzeria at 120 E. Oak Ridge Drive in Hagerstown.
  • Pete's Tavern at 144 Main St. in Sharpsburg.

Robert L. Everhart, chairman of the Board of License Commissioners for Washington County, known as the liquor board, said the maximum penalty for such an offense is loss of liquor license and a $2,500 fine.
