GREENCASTLE, Pa. — A mascot was assaulted during a basketball game at Greencastle-Antrim High School Friday night, according to the Greencastle Police Department.

During a basketball game between rivals Greencastle-Antrim and Waynesboro, a juvenile lured the mascot of the Greencastle-Antrim Blue Devils to the location of another juvenile at about 8:12 p.m. in the gym area, police said.

The second juvenile tackled the mascot, which knocked the costume head gear off the victim's head, police said.

The student playing the mascot fell on the ground and suffered an injury to his face, police said.

A juvenile petition will be filed with the Franklin County Juvenile Probation Department charging both juveniles with simple assault and criminal conspiracy/simple assault, police said.

One of the juveniles is 16 years old and the other one is 17 years old.
