WILLIAMSPORT, Md. — Eldon E. Miller, 71, of Spielman Road, Williamsport, passed away Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011, at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown.

Born Feb. 12, 1939, in Rohrersville, Md., he was the son of the late Clarence H. Miller Sr. and Martha P. (Spielman) Miller.

He was a graduate of Boonsboro High School, class of 1957.

He was employed by Smith Oil Co. of Hagerstown and Allegheny Energy R. Paul Smith Station of Williamsport.

He was a member of the Downsville Christian Church; former member of the Rohresville United Methodist Church, member of Medairy Masonic Lodge 140 A.F. and A.M. of Williamsport, where he reached the 32nd degree Scottish Rite; member of the Tall Cedar Foundation; The Improved Order of Red Men Tribe 84 of Williamsport; Sons of American Legion Clopper-Michael post 10 of Boonsboro; Order of The Eastern Star, Hagerstown; and AARP.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years ,Barbara R. (Smith) Miller, whom he married Jan. 21, 1961; daughter, Nicala “Nicki” Carter and husband, Rick, of Rorkford, Ill.; sister, Alma Eichelberger of Boonsboro; brother, William P. Miller of Hagerstown; granddaughter, Summer Carter; stepgrandson, Justin Carter; special friends and caregivers, Jerry and Ruth Hammond; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence H. Miller Jr.

Services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Memorial donations may be made in memory of Eldon to a charity of one’s choice.
