CLEAR SPRING, Md. — Lewis Victor Eby Jr., 67, of Lynnehaven Drive, Hagerstown, Md., and formerly of Clear Spring, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011, at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Balitmore, Md.

Born Aug. 31, 1943, in Clear Spring, he was the son of the late Lewis Victor Eby Sr. and Edna Horst Eby.

He was a member of the Mount Zion Mennonite Church of Boonsboro, and a member of the Clear Spring Ambulance Club. He attended the Clear Spring High School and retired from D.M. Bowman Inc. after 33 years of service. He received a Safety Excellence Award for 3 million miles of travel, trained drivers for the Bowman company and was a D.M. Bowman Hall of Fame driver. His family, extended family and grandchildren were his pride and joy.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Ruth Ann "Peachey" Eby; three sons, Christian Lewis and wife, Kim, of Hahira, Ga., Carliss Eby and wife, Tara, of Hagerstown, and Curtis Eby and wife, Jennifer, of Cearfoss; sister, Thelma Powell and husband, John, of Elida, Ohio; sister-in-law, Nancy Baer and husband, David, of Maugansville; brother, Benjamin Eby and wife, Debbie, of Ohio; grandchildren, Kyleigh Eby and Cassi Eby of Georgia, Emily Eby and Zachary Eby of Hagerstown, Morgan Eby of Cearfoss and soon-to-arrive Wyatt Lewis Eby; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Eby.

Services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Mount Zion Mennonite Church, 20544 Benevola Church Road, Boonsboro, Md. Pastor Craig Oury will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Donald Edwin Thompson Funeral Home, Inc., 13607 National Pike, Clear Spring, on Friday, Jan. 14, from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m.
