Yogi Martin, former supervisor of physical education, health and driver’s education for Washington County

Public Schools, will share the story of his successful corneal surgery experience at Discovery Station on

Saturday at 2 p.m.

The event is part of Discovery Station’s Saturday Plus program.

Discovery Station is at 101 W. Washington St. in Hagerstown. Program is included with regular admission

of $5 to $7.

Citizens Police Academy to start in March
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office will host a Citizens Police Academy beginning March 8.

The program will run for 11 consecutive Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., with two Saturday

sessions of practical instruction.

Hands-on activities will include exercises using the Fire Arms Training Simulator (F.A.T.S.) and training in


citizens emergency response techniques.

Classes will be held at the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division, 500 Western Maryland

Parkway in Hagerstown.

Senior center seeks volunteers
The senior center is seeking greeters stationed at the registration area to meet seniors who visit the


Since the new year began, the center has seen many new participants visiting the center.

The staff needs greeters Mondays and Fridays, and other afternoons during the week.
