Maugansville Elementary recognizes students

Maugansville Elementary School recognized students for being respectful at the second Golden Table of the year Dec. 14.  

Students received a book, compliments of the PTA, a school-related goodie bag, healthy treats, a certificate and a star to wear designating their accomplishment.  

The students recognized were:  

Kindergarten — Connor Dietz, Julian Fouke, Timmy Ramsey, Sean Neal, Hannah Hose, Olivia Weeks, Elise Tucker, Matthew Munson, Ella Holloman and Graham Brezler  

First grade — Nathan Lanza, Sienna Golden, Jordan Fergus, Halle Miller, Daria Lindsey, Robert Cervinsky, Rasheed Grandison, Madeline Semler and Lonnie Horner

Second grade — Wyatt Bussard, Morgan Burris, Morgan Rettig, Lucas George, Joseb Flores, Devin Morningstar, Camryn Kelly, Rebekah Pugh and Iziah Techie-Mensah  

Third grade — Madison Carbaugh, Tania Martinez, Kylie Cunningham, Micah Myers, Chase Gatrell, Taylor Short, Dillan Frank, Josalynn Hartman and Samuel Semler

Fourth grade — Leigha Avila, Luke Coulter, Madison Jenkins, Matthew Montoya, Jennifer Canton, Jeffrey "J.T." Miller, Ryan Clarke, Steven Cermeno, Rachel Sands and Madison Kelley

Fifth grade — Bryan Goodman, Kacie Jones, Adam Harbert, Madison Breeze, Malcolm Carter, Elizabeth Vicarte, Shane Kovacich, Emma Woods, Caroline Fleetwood, Ivon Fergus and Johnathan Strait.  

Senior Idol contest

The Washington County Senior Idol Singing Contest will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church on the corner of High and Washington streets in Hagerstown's West End.   Accepting donations of $5, all proceeds will help support Washington County Meals on Wheels.   Everyone is welcome to see who the next senior idol winning contestant will be for Washington County. Winners will head for the state title in March.

Maugansville Little League seeks baseball managers


Maugansville Little League is accepting letters of interest for managers for the upcoming baseball season.

There are openings in T-ball through senior league. Anyone interested may submit their letter to Maugansville Little League, P.O. Box 266, Maugansville, MD 21767 or e-mail maugansvillelittleleague@crazy4baseball.com.  Please include contact information.

Little League meeting to be held Monday

The next Maugansville Board of Directors Little League meeting will be Monday, Jan. 17, at 7 p.m. at the Maugansville Ruritan Buildling.

Pancake breakfast

Maugansville Ruritan Club will host an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast Saturday, Jan. 22, from 6:30 to 11 a.m. at the Ruritan building on Maugans Avenue.  

The menu includes pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, and sausage gravy, along with juice, coffee and tea.  

Breakfast costs $5.50 for adults, $3 for those ages 6 to 12, and free for those ages 5 and younger.  Proceeds help support the many programs the Ruritan Club sponsors.  Upcoming breakfasts will be held on Feb. 26 and March 26.  

Baseball tryouts to be held Saturday

Tryouts for the Hagerstown Bulldogs 9 and younger travel baseball team will be held Saturday from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at Extra Innings. Players cannot turn 10 before May 1. For more information, contact Todd Stocks at HagerstownBulldogs@Verizon.net.
