W.Va. choruses begin season with auditions, practices

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. — The Living Springs Chorale and the Sleepy Creek Children’s Choir will hold auditions for new singers for the spring season Tuesday, Jan. 18.

The Sleepy Creek Children’s Choirs continue their fifth season with registration and first rehearsal for the spring season at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, for the youth chorale (ages 13 to 18) and at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, for the primary choir (ages 5 to 8) and intermediate choir (ages 9 to 12). Practices are at the Berkeley Springs Presbyterian Church on Mercer Street. Registration is $15 per child or $20 per family.

The Living Springs Chorale, with more than 30 voices, is directed by Lydia Walker. It is open to singers who are high school age and older. Ideal chorus members enjoy classical and spiritual choral music, have previous choral singing experience, and can commit to 10 to 11 weekly rehearsals, plus concerts in the spring and fall.

Regular rehearsals be on Tuesdays beginning Jan. 25 at 6:45 p.m. and are held weekly in the Fellowship Hall of the Berkeley Springs Presbyterian Church, 97 Mercer St., Berkeley Springs.
