Reminder to parents

Parents of Washington County Public School students, be sure to note the following on your schedule: Schools will close 2 1/2 hours early Friday, which will mark the end of the marking period for students in elementary and secondary schools.

Schools will also be closed Monday, Jan. 17, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday and on Tuesday, Jan. 18, for a professional learning day. Classes will resume on Wednesday, Jan. 19.

Blue Band Night

Wendy's and the Williamsport Blue Band Boosters Club invite the community to this month's Blue Band Night, Wednesday, Jan. 19, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the 1570 Wesel Blvd. restaurant.

The band purchased uniforms in 2008, and the money raised will be used to help pay for them.

Tell the server you support the Blue Band, and Wendy's will give the uniform fund a portion of the bill.

The next South Hagerstown High School Alumni meeting will be today at 7 p.m. in the school's media center.

Agenda items include the scholarships program, golf tournament and the Rebel Reunion Weekend planned for June.

Snowy delight

I don't know about you, but I am loving the snowy, wintery weather we received this week. What a beautiful and peaceful sight — fresh snow covered lawns, trees and streets. Happy winter wonderland.
