Temporary power outage planned Jan. 17
WILLIAMSPORT — Williamsport officials said there will be a temporary power outage in town on Jan. 17.
Electric service will be interrupted for most town residents for about 15 minutes that day because Allegheny Power will be changing fuses in town, town officials said during the Williamsport Town Council meeting Monday night.

Town switching to monthly water bills
WILLIAMSPORT — The town of Williamsport is about to switch to monthly water bills, town officials said during the Williamsport Town Council meeting Monday night.
The town currently bills for water on a quarterly basis, but the switch is being made possible by a new system of reading water meters, town officials said.
Under the new system, a computer will be able to pick up signals that deliver the meter readings, town officials said.
Town officials said the switch should work better for customers because any possible water leaks will be detected faster.

Williamsport Town Council member Tearza Knode said during the council meeting Monday night that plans are in the works to celebrate the holiday over a four-day period.
