Woman taken to hospital after car strikes her

January 11, 2011

An 18-year-old woman was taken to Meritus Medical Center after she was struck by a car Tuesday afternoon near Kaplan University north of Hagerstown.

Washington County Sheriff's Deputy Jay Mills said the woman was treated for a broken leg.

"Apparently, she never saw the car coming down the road," Mills said.

The accident happened in the 18600 block of Crestwood Drive at about 1:20 p.m., as the woman was crossing the street and was struck by an oncoming Honda Accord, a sheriff's office news release said.

Mills said no one was charged.

The woman's name was being withheld until her family could be notified, Mills said.
