SHARPSBURG — Connie Jean Burgan, 68, of 3831 Harpers Ferry Road, Sharpsburg, Md., went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, Jan. 7, 2011, at Reeders Memorial Home Boonsboro, Md.

Born Oct. 16, 1942 in Hagerstown, Md., she was the daughter of  the late Charles Edward Sr. and Helen Virginia Edwards Kretzer.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of New Life Fellowship, Dargan, Md.

Connie was a devoted, loving, Christian, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

She loved gardening, flowers, pets, and watching birds.

Survivors include husband Garvin Wayne “Chicken” Burgan Sr., married 53 years; daughter, Penny Strite and her husband Darrel (is this cq?), of Sharpsburg, Md.; daughter, Pamela Singhas and her husband Kenneth, of Williamsport, Md.; son, Garvin Burgan Jr. and his wife Deborah, of Sharpsburg, Md.; son, Richard Burgan of Sharpsburg, Md.; sister, the Rev. Anna Mae Koontz of Coseytown, Pa.; sister, Janet Swope of Fairplay, Md.; sister, Mary Shipley of Williamsport, Md.; brother, the Rev. Robert Kretzer of Hagerstown, Md.; brother, the Rev. Don Kretzer of Hagerstown, Md.; brother, Danny Kretzer of Mannington, W.Va.; 10 grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren.

She was predeceased by one grandson, Michael Barry, and two brothers, Gary Kretzer and Charles Kretzer Jr.

There will be no viewing.

Graveside services will be held at Mount View Cemetery, Sharpsburg, Md., on Monday, Jan. 10, 2011 at 2 p.m., with Pastor Darrel Strite and the Rev. Chester Martin officiating.
