Student member of BOE abstains from minutes approval

January 07, 2011

The student member of the Washington County Board of Education abstained again this week from voting to approve meeting minutes because he said he didn't have access to them.

After the board meeting Tuesday, student board member Steven Wang said there had been a miscommunication. The information had been sent to him through his school but Wang said he hadn't known that.

Wang first raised the issue at the Dec. 14 meeting, telling his fellow board members that he was abstaining from approving the meeting minutes because he didn't have access to them prior to their approval.

School Board President Wayne Ridenour said then he would make sure the oversight was fixed, reiterating Tuesday that the issue would be resolved.
