Dorothy Eleanor "Dot" Landis, 88, of Hagerstown, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011, at Autumn Assisted Living.

Born Jan. 30, 1922, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Albert Linwood Keyser Sr. and Sadie Jane Lefever Keyser.

Her husband, Charles Brooke Landis, preceded her in death on Nov. 18, 2005, the day of their 49th wedding anniversary. She also was preceded in death by a stepson, Frank Adrian Landis, in 1997.

Dorothy was a graduate of Hagerstown High School, Class of 1939. She was employed as a secretary at Merchants Wholesale Grocery Co., Hagerstown; The Pentagon, Alexandria, Va.; and Pangborn Corp., Hagerstown. She was the private secretary to Mr. and Mrs. John C. Pangborn Sr. for many years.

She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, Chewsville, but in later years returned to the church of her youth, Salem Reformed Church, Hagerstown.

Dorothy was a member of the Washington County Hospital Auxiliary since 1981 and was a member of the Green Acre Homemakers Club.

She is survived by a daughter, Bonnie Lou Moss, and a granddaughter, Selena Ann Luther, both of Hagerstown; a brother, Albert L. Keyser Jr. of Hagerstown; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by four sisters, Gladys Marie Keyser, Mary Anna King, Margaret Naomi Bloyer and Jane Rosella Snyder.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011, at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home. The Rev. John A. Toms will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour preceding the service.
