CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — A Shippensburg, Pa., teenager died after a single-vehicle crash Tuesday night in Hamilton Township, Pennsylvania State Police said in a news release.
Kristi L. Myers, 18, was a passenger in a vehicle that struck a steel pole on Lincoln Way West near Sollenberger Road, police said.
Franklin County Coroner Jeffrey R. Conner said Myers was pronounced dead at 9:37 p.m. in the emergency room of Chambersburg Hospital.
Myers was in the rear passenger seat of a 2001 Ford Mustang and was not wearing a seat belt, Conner said. An autopsy will be performed today at Lehigh Valley Medical Center in Allentown, Pa., to determine the cause and manner of death, he said.
Police said the driver, Jeffrey David Davies, 20, of Chambersburg, was driving east on Lincoln Way West at 9:10 p.m. when he lost control of the Mustang. The vehicle went off the right side of the road and struck the pole head-on, the release said.
Davies was taken to Chambersburg Hospital for treatment of minor injuries, the release said.
A second passenger, Kiersten E. Cole, 19, of Fayetteville, Pa., was flown to York (Pa.) Hospital with moderate injuries, according to the release.
