Grace boys earn first win

Peter Hykes had 19 points, including five 3-pointers, and Eric Boutieller added 16 points as Grace Academy got its first win of the season Monday, a 52-41 victory over Adams County Christian Academy.

Kenny Frederickson had nine points and 15 rebounds and Boutieller grabbed eight rebounds for Grace (1-5).

McConnellsburg 58, CVCS 32

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. — Evan Appleby scored 21 points to lead McConnellsburg to its first win of the season over Cumberland Valley Christian.

Tony White added 13 points for the Spartans (1-6).

Josh Sanders had 15 points for CVCS.

Martinsburg 71, Millbrook 52

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Donte Grantham posted a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds to lead Martinsburg past Millbrook.

Adonijah Gilmore had 16 points and Jean Eddy Clerius added 14 points for the Bulldogs (2-2).


Greencastle 53, McConnellsburg 29

GREENCASTLE, Pa. — Jenna Crunkleton scored a game-high 17 points to lead Greencastle-Antrim past McConnellsburg.

Caitlyn Hoover and Tache Smothers added 10 points each and Rachel Kline had 10 rebounds and four steals for the Blue Devils (5-3).

Nikki Fleming had 10 points for the Spartans.

Southern Fulton 37, Chestnut Ridge 32

FISHERTOWN, Pa. — Lacey Beatty and Chelsie Eader had 10 points and five rebounds each to lead Southern Fulton past Chestnut Ridge.

Beatty also added three steals and Eader had three assists for the Indians (5-1).


Shepherd 85, W.Va. State 74

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. — Carrie Saunders had a team-high 22 points, including a 5 of 6 effort from beyond the arc, and six assists to lead Shepherd University past West Virginia State in the West Virginia Conference.

Saunders also added six assists, Emily Daniel had 18 points, Shelby Fayak had 14 points and Jerica Hewett had eight points, nine rebounds and five assists for the Rams (7-3, 5-1), who won their fifth straight game.

Baseball tryouts

Tryouts for the Hagerstown Hornets travel baseball teams will be held Saturday from 8 to 11 a.m. at Extra Innings on Business Parkway, west of Hagerstown.
