TOPS Chapter 0462

The TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Chapter 0462 in Smithsburg had a fantastic year, with everyone in the chapter becoming a thinner winner.

Dale H. had the most weight loss for the chapter at 52 pounds. John M. came close with a loss of 44 pounds.

For the women, Susan lost 38 pounds and Ola had a 15.5-pound loss for the year.

The chapter's total loss for the year was 206 pounds, which was more than 14.5 pounds per member.

To top it off, each chapter member ended the year with a loss. For the first time in the chapter's short history, the members recorded a no-gain year.

Some of the members will be starting the year off in new weight divisions.

To start the new year, anyone who once was a chapter member can rejoin without paying any back dues.

This past week, John led the program on foods that are good for your heart and blood pressure.

On Thursday, the chapter will start a contest titled "Filling Your Pot of Gold." Teams will get points for weight losses and other activities.

The chapter meets Thursdays at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 51 N. Main St. in Smithsburg. Weigh-in is at 5:30 p.m. and the meeting starts at 6 p.m.
