Gareth S. Flook, 96, of Myersville, Md., went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Jan. 2, 2011, at Meritus Medical Center, Hagerstown.

Born March 2, 1914, in Myersville, he was the son of the late Jacob E. and Vergie I. Pettingall Flook, and was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Gareth attended the New Well Ministry Church in Myersville.

In the late 1930s and early 1940s, as a construction worker, he helped build the Washington National Airport, Pennsylvania Turnpike and U.S. 40 in the Frederick County area. He retired after 40 years as a dairy farmer on his family farm.

Surviving Gareth is his wife of 73 years, Ruth R. Delatuer Flook; four children, Marianne R. Huffer, Waynesboro, Pa., Billy G. Flook, Warrenton, Va., Stephen S. Flook and wife, Cathy, Myersville, and Chela N. Keller and husband, Joseph, Dover, Ohio; 15 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding Gareth in death were his five brothers and sisters, Cora Schroyer, Roy Flook, Dorotha Easterday, Russell Flook and Margaret Bowman.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011, at Ricketts Funeral Home, Myersville, with Pastor Jim Smith officiating.

Burial will be in Mt. Zion United Methodist Cemetery, Myersville.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
