Hagerstown woman faces DUI, drug charges

MIDDLETOWN, Md. — A Hagerstown woman faces charges after police found more than 200 grams of suspected marijuana in a car following a traffic stop on Interstate 70 near Middletown early New Year’s Day, Maryland State Police said in a news release.

Amanda Nicole Miller, 26, was charged with possession of a controlled, dangerous substance with intent to distribute and DUI, the release said.

A state police trooper from the Rockville barrack stopped Miller for speeding on westbound Interstate 70 near mile-marker 46, west of Frederick, at about 4:30 a.m., troopers said. The trooper smelled alcohol and saw a McDonald’s bag open in her purse on the rear passenger seat, troopers said. In the open bag was a plastic bag containing 297.4 grams of suspected marijuana, troopers said.

Miller was taken to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center, where she was being held on $40,000 bond Sunday night, a detention center spokesman said.
