Polar Bear Plunge  

The annual Polar Bear Plunge will be Saturday at noon at River Bottom Park in Williamsport.

Brave and cold-weather-loving individuals will take a plunge into the icy Potomac River. There is a fee to participate and proceeds from the event will benefit the Humane Society of Washington County.

Bonanza event  

The Williamsport Athletic Boosters will host a bonanza event at Williamsport Fire Hall Saturday, Jan. 8, beginning at 5 p.m.

Tickets cost $35 per couple, which includes meal, soda and beer. Those attending must be at least 21 years of age. Dinner will be  at 6:30 p.m. and the drawing will be at 7:30 p.m. A DJ will follow the drawing.

The first and every 10th ticket wins $35. The 100th ticket drawn will win $100. The No. 1 ticket will be raffled and guaranteed in the last five drawings for a chance to win $1,000.

Car show planned

A classic car show will be held at Valley Mall on Saturday, Jan. 8 and Sunday, Jan. 9. The cars will be set up throughout the mall. Donations will be accepted on behalf of the Children's Charities.
