Cochran to speak

Valley Art Association will meet Wednesday, Jan. 26, at 7 p.m. at the Mansion House Art Center, 501 Highland Way in Hagerstown, to the rear of City Park.

Following a short business meeting and refreshments, William Cochran will speak and show slides about "How To's on Painting" in trompe l'oeil style (dimensional paintings that fool the eye into thinking they are real).

He is a muralist, sculptor and designer from Frederick, Md. Participants are encouraged to visit the Carroll Creek Community Bridge to see the ivy and statues prior to the meeting.

For more information, call 301-797-6813 or go to www.valleyartassoc.com.

Way to go, students

Kudos to the students at Funkstown School For Early Childhood Education.

The school recently held a canned-food drive with a goal of 600 cans, and when all was said and done, the students were able to donate more than 850 cans.

Donations needed by Commission on Aging

The Washington County Commission on Aging is in need of donations of new and used medical equipment, such as canes and walker bath benches.

The agency is also in need of volunteers to help out with the Meals on Wheels program.

Meals on Wheels is more than just making food deliveries.

It also involves friendly visitations, conducting nutritional evaluation updates and assessing activities of daily living.

For more information, call 301-790-0275.

Happy New Year

Enjoy the rest of the week. Be safe on New Year's eve and may God bless and keep you.
