Incidents reported in Franklin County

The following incidents were reported by Franklin County (Pa.) Emergency Services:


Tuesday

  • At 12:25 a.m., a house fire in the 5700 block of Grouse Road in Metal Township.


Monday

  • At 7:52 p.m., an automatic fire alarm in the 700 block of Norland Avenue in Chambersburg.
  • At 10:01 p.m., a house fire in the 10900 block of Mowersville Road in Lurgan Township.

Deer crashes through windshield of F-150

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. — A McConnellsburg man was hurt last week when a deer crashed through the windshield of his Ford F-150 pickup truck while the man was driving on Peach Orchard Road in Todd Township, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Randy Merrill Wible, 30, was driving north on Peach Orchard Road at East Dutch Corner Road Wednesday at about 6 p.m. when a deer jumped off a hillside and went through the truck's windshield, state police said.

Wible suffered moderate injuries to his head and face, state police said.



Pa. police say man was victim of scheme

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — A 71-year-old Chambersburg man was the victim of a scheme after he sent various amounts of money when he was told he had won items through a clearinghouse giveaway, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

The man was told that he had to pay various taxes on the items before he received them, state police said.

The man sent different amounts of money before realizing he had been the victim of a scheme, state police said in a news release Sunday.



Safe missing from residence following burglary

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — A safe turned up missing after a front door was broken in a burglary on Leisure Road, Pennsylvania State Police said.

The burglary occurred between Dec. 19 and 20 in the 1100 block of Leisure Road in Hamilton Township, state police said.
