Minstrel show seeks entertainers

The Clear Spring Lions Club will present its 60th Minstrel/Variety Show titled "Years Gone By" March 18 to 20 in the Clear Spring High School auditorium.

Rehearsals will begin Sunday, Jan. 9, at 2 p.m. at St. John's United Church of Christ in Clear Spring. Rehearsals will be each Sunday until the date of the show.  Rehearsals usually last about two hours.

The Lions Club is searching for singers who sang in the show during the past 60 years, and for anyone who likes to sing and has never taken part in the show before.

You are never too old or too young to sing in the show.

There are no auditions; just come and prepare to have a good time and sing. The organizers would like to fill up the stage with singers who enjoy singing some of the greatest songs written for stage.

The show committee has been working since October to put the show together.

Burma Miles will direct the show again this year.

All proceeds from the show benefit Clear Spring Lions community projects.

Did you know?

Did you know that the first meeting to organize a volunteer fire company was held Jan. 3, 1935? The first fire hall was rented in 1935 and purchased in 1938. It was used until 1948, and then it was sold to the Town of Clear Spring. It sat where Town Hall now stands.
