CLEAR SPRING — A three-vehicle crash on Interstate 70 west of Clear Spring sent three people to Meritus Medical Center Tuesday afternoon and closed the eastbound lanes for an hour, Maryland State Police said.
The crash, reported at 3:32 p.m., happened when a red Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck struck the rear of a white Chevrolet Blazer, which, in turn, struck the rear of a silver Ford Taurus, Trooper R. Pittman said.
One person was taken to Meritus Medical Center with serious but not life-threatening injuries, Pittman said.
Two other people were taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure, Pittman said.
Pittman said excessive speed was a factor in the collision.
The two eastbound lanes of the interstate were shut down for about an hour as rescue crews worked to clear the scene, officials said.
