Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Kimberly S. Cook, whose husband, Brian, is the son of Alice C. Cook and Clyde Montgomery Cook, both of Harpers Ferry, W.Va., recently was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, gold star in lieu of second award, while serving as journeyman networking core course supervisor and instructor at the Center for Information Dominance Learning Site in Norfolk, Va.

Cook's instructional talent and technical knowledge were key to certifying seven instructors and delivering 1,750 training hours over the course of 31 classes. She also assisted in updating course material, in addition to managing the upgrade of two system classrooms, practical labs and reconfiguring two networked Cisco routers.



Navy Seaman Recruit Jordan S. Hopkins, son of Dawn R. and Scot E. Hopkins of Myersville, Md., recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.  

Hopkins is a 2010 graduate of Middletown (Md.) High School.
