Ruben B. Schwartzbeck, 77

Mr. Ruben B. Schwartzbeck, 77, of Monrovia, Md., died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2010 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of the late Barbara L. Schwartzbeck, who died August 2007.

Born Aug. 5, 1933 in Travilah, Md., he was a son of the late Ruben Alexander and Hyla Lowery Schwartzbeck.

Mr. Schwartzbeck served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956. He worked 27 years as a lineman for Potomac Electric Power Co., and then, five years at the Mount Airy Walmart.

Ruben was a member of American Legion Post 191, Mount Airy, Md. He enjoyed greatly attending vintage and classic automobile shows, watching football, NASCAR racing and cooking.

Surviving are two daughters, Wanda Lee Long of Hagerstown, Md. and Cherie Ann Phillips and husband Robert, also of Hagerstown. Four grandchildren: Brittany Lee Long, Eric K. Long, Alexa Rae Phillips and Samantha Nicole Phillips. Brothers and sisters: Winnie Connelly of West Virginia, Rosalie Hunt of Virginia, Cecil Schwartzbeck of North Carolina, Frances Suddueth and Marlene Butt, both of Maryland; a special friend Eddie Mills and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by two sisters:  Estelle Repass and Joann Randall; and one brother Lewis Nolan Schwartzbeck.

Friends may call 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 19, at Molesworth-Williams P.A., Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Road, Damascus, Md.  Funeral services will be held noon Monday, Dec. 20 at Travilah Baptist Church,12811 Glen Road, North Potomac, MD 20878. The Rev. David M. Benway will officiate. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Silver Spring, Md.
