Senior singers invited to enter county's Idol contest

The Washington County Commission on Aging invites area senior singers to enter the 2011 Maryland Senior Idol Contest.

The winner of the contest will win a cash prize and be named Washington County Senior Idol for 2011. The winner and runner-up will advance to state-level Senior Idol contest.

Singers must be 60 or older and a resident of Washington County. There is no fee to enter. If singers perform with accompaniment, they must bring an accompaniment CD to the show.

For an application, which includes complete rules about the contest, call Ruth Brown at the Washington County Commission on Aging at 301-790-0275, ext. 205. Applications will be accepted through Friday, Dec. 31.
