Whitfields celebrate 50 years

LITTLE ORLEANS, Md. — Marlin and Darle Whitfield of Little Orleans, Md., were honored with a surprise 50th anniversary celebration and buffet dinner at the home of their daughter on Dec. 20, 2009.
The Whitfields were married at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Hancock, Md. on Dec. 25, 1959.
Mr. Whitfield is the son of the late Olney and Zora Whitfield of Little Orleans. Mrs. Whitfield is the daughter of the late Russell and Irene Dorrier of Hagerstown. They have been blessed with three children; son, Danny Whitfield and Wanda Clark of Little Orleans; daughter, Yvonne and husband, Jeff Gish, and children, Morgan, Lindsey and Payton, of Boonsboro, Md.; and son, Sean Whitfield and wife, Nichole, and children, Thomas, Dakota, Elyse, Ethan and Grayson, of Aldie, Va.
Mr. Whitfield retired in June 2001 from the Maryland State Highway Administration after 42 years of service as a project engineer. Mrs. Whitfield is a lifetime homemaker.
Guests were Mrs. Whitfield’s brothers and their families, and cousins and families from McKeesport, Pa. Thirty people attended.
Their children presented them with a trip of their choice anywhere in the United States.
