LEESBURG, Va. — M. Loraine Rung, 88, of Leesburg, Va., died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2010 at Loudon County Hospital. Born Nov. 2, 1921, in Kifer, Md., she was the daughter of the late Floyd C. and Grace M. Robertson.

She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Leesburg.

She was employed as a secretary at American Leatherworks. She then became a homemaker for her husband and her 10 children.

Loraine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, traveling, reading, and playing canasta. She was the true matriarch of the family and the void can never be filled. She volunteered at Sacred Heart Hospital for 12 years.


She is survived by her four sons, Edward Rung and Joseph Rung, both of Leesburg, George Rung Jr. of Lake Caroline, Va., and Walter Rung of Boonsboro, Md; five daughters, Elizabeth Viar of Hagerstown, Therese Kutter of Charleston, S.C., Angela Rung of Mount Pillar, Va., Monica Murray of Lovettsville, Va., and Alesia Carey of Ashland, Va. and 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, George P. Rung Sr. in 2007 and one daughter, Diane Rung Mickel in 1989.

Mass and graveside services were held Monday, Oct. 25 at Rose Hill Cemetery.

The Rev. George Limmer officiated.

A memorial Mass was held Oct. 29 at St. John's Catholic Church in Leesburg, Virginia.

The Rev. Bryan W. Belli officiated.
